Story

Cooking South Indian food has always been a way for me to hold onto my culture. My father and his family immigrated from India in the 1970’s.  There were always bits and pieces of Indian culture that we were exposed growing up but south Indian culinary was by far the main cultural exposure. My grandmother and aunts would share their recipes with me and as they passed on, and I felt a calling to continue to share those recipes! My biggest motivator in starting Larissa’s Apron was to share those recipes with others. Especially, those who would never get to taste it otherwise.

One of my greatest joys is exposing others to South Indian food, who otherwise might be less likely to try ethnic cuisine. I love to challenge their palates, and when they enjoy the food, if feels like such an accomplishment.
